Talking to Your Subject
I am taking this blog post lead from Scott Kelby’s guest blog today of Bill Wadman. He tells us that we need to create a rapport with our subject when we photograph them. Even though I am Mr. Talk when it comes to just interacting with folks on a daily basis, developing a relationship with individuals when I’m photographing them is very difficult for me. I have known this young lady since she was about 3 years old. It was very easy to talk to her.
My problem is strictly from a confidence stand point. Hence, I like to take portraits of individuals of whom I already know. Then visiting with them is extremely easy. I feel as if I’m saying this on paper to help me with my ego behind the camera. This girl was a total stranger before I photographed her.
Babies and kids are another story all together. I love to take images of kids because they are so innocent and real. This is my youngest grandson Elijah.
